Rohingya shot as Myanmar troops open fire on border

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar has allegedly fired gun shots at Ukhia Balukhali zero-point on Bangladesh-Myanmar border in phases, leaving a Rohingya youth injured, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) claimed.

Major Iqbal, Deputy captain of BGB-34, said Myanmar troops fired 40 rounds of bullets in phases since 11:30am to 3:00pm on Sunday.

“A Rohingya youth Nurul Islam, who resides in Balukhali camp in Ukhia, sustained bullet injuries. He was being given treatment at Red Crescent Field Hospital in Kutupalong camp,” he added.

“Sending a protest note by BGB against the incident was under process,” he said.
