Student's death rumour sparks violence in Narayanganj

Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj: Rumours about death of a student in a road accident triggered violence on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Kanchpur area of Sonargaon.

Sources said there was a rumor that a female student named Sadia Aktar was killed when a bus hit her in front of Omar Ali High School on Thursday morning. Later, the injured student was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Following the issue, agitated students, guardians and locals put blockade in the area and vandalized vehicles and set fire.

Sonargaon police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Morshed Alam said additional police forces were deployed in the area. The vehicle movement is normal now.
