Suspected militant den cordoned off in Jhenidah

Jhenidah Correspondent: Law enforcers have surrounded a house in suspicion of being a militant den at Thonthoniaparha in Porhahati village of the district's sadar upazila.

The owner of the tin-shed house is one Abdullah who converted into Islam from Hindu five years ago, according to locals.

They said there were several mango trees around the house. Abdullah drives a human hauler, locally known as Alamsadhu which is popularly known as Nasiman.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Counter Terrorism Unit of police cordoned off the house around Friday evening.  Then, two units of Fire Service and Civil Defence joined with them.

Media men are waiting at a distance of 300 yards from the spot. Law enforcers did not start their operations till the report was filed around 7:00pm due to light rain.

Confirming the new, Azbahar Ali, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Jhenidah, said media will be informed later after confirming whether there is any militant inside the house.
