Teenage lovers commit suicide in Sirajganj

Sirajganj Correspondent: A teenage boy allegedly committed suicide by strangulating himself in his room after hearing a news that his lover committed suicide by taking poison in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Shahed Ali, 15, son of one Moinuddin of Raghunali village of the upazila and her lover Rubina Khatun, 15, daughter of one Abdur Rauf of Chak Joykrishnapur village. Both of them were ninth graders at Chak Joykrishnapur Dakhil Madrasa.

Locals said Rubina consumed poison following a quarrel with her mother in the morning and died on way to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital around 10:00am. On the other hand, after receiving her death news, Shahed hanged himself at home.

Confirming the incident, Tarash Sadar union parishad chairman Babul Sheikh said there was an affair between the two teenagers. 

Tarash police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman said that the teenagers allegedly had an affair. Police were sent to the spot to investigate the matter.

The reason behind their suicide can be known after the investigation, the OC added.
