Three die while working in septic tank

Gopalganaj Correspondent: Three construction workers have died due to inhalation of poisonous gas when they were working inside a septic tank at Thanaparha area of the district town.

The incident happened at septic tank of Haidar Ali's under construction house of Thanaparha  on Friday noon.

The deceased were identified as Nur Islam, 20, son of Hares Munshi of Arparha village of Gopalganj sadar, Zahidur Munshi, 20, son of Asad Munshi of the same village, and Sumon Mollah, 35, son of Akram Mollah of Marry Gopinathpur village of the same upazila.

Another worker Mihir Mazumdar said a total of nine workers were working in the building. On Friday noon, Nur Islam and Zahidur got into the tank to clean it. After a while, Sumon Mollah also got into it as they made any response from inside. He also did not return.

Later, being informed, three units of Fire Service rushed the spot and recovered their bodies from inside the tank, he added.

The workers might have died due to inhalation of poisonous gas inside the tank, said Gopalganj Fire Service Inspector Nuru Huda.

Selim Reza, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalgaj Sadar Police Station, said the bodies were sent to Gopalganj Sadar hospital for autopsy.
