Three get death for killing varsity student

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: A Gazipur court sentenced three persons to death penalty and another to life-term imprisonment for killing a university student in 2013.

Judge AKM Enamul Haque of Gazipur District and Sessions Judge Court handed down the verdict on Thursday morning.

The death-row convicts are Md Rezaul Karim alias Sagor, 32, Md Jamal Uddin, 36, and Md Shahab Uddin, 27, while life-term awardee is Sanjida Akter Lipi, 30.

The court also fined the death-row convicts TK 20,000 each and the life-term awardee Tk 10,000. In default, she has to serve one more month rigorous imprisonment.

According to case statement, the convicts abducted Riad, a BBA student of Uttara University, of Gazipur and killed him in 2013.
