Three militants remanded in Gaibandha

Gaibandha Correspondent: A Gaibandha court has placed three militants of the banned outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) on four-day remand each.

They were known as Atiqur Rahman, son of Khairul Islam of Tulsiparha village of the district's Gobindaganj upazila, Rafiqul Islam, 30, son of Saidur Rahman of Kamarparha village of the same upazila, and Nur Mohammad, 28, son of Abdur Rahim of Tower area of Cox's Bazar sadar upazila.

Judge Joynal Abedin of Gaibandha Judicial Magistrage Court passed the order on Thursday afternoon.

Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested them conducting a drive at different places of the upazila early Thursday.

Confirming the news, Masudar Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gaibandha DB, they are active militants of JMB. They were arrested conducting a drive on secret information.

Though police sought five-day remand for each, the judge passed for four days after hearing, he added.
