Tough vigilance in Jashore border to prevent rawhide smuggling

Staff Correspondent, Jashore: Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) heightened security measures in order to prevent smuggling of rawhide of sacrificial animals to India through Benapole border area in Jessore.

BGB personnel presence has been stepped up in various border areas.

Besides, the patrolling of BGB personnel has been increased in land, river and railways.

There is a possibility of smuggling of rawhide to the neighboring country as the prices are a few notches higher in India.

BGB-49 Battalion commanding officer Lt. Col Ariful Haque said the law enforcers are remain alert to prevent smuggling. However, rawhide smuggling tendency increases during Eid-ul-Azha. Check posts have been set up to plug any smuggling.
