Train-truck collision kills asst train driver in Gazipur 

Staff Correspondent: An assistant train driver was killed as a train hit a truck at Bokterpur level-crossing in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Nur Alam Sharif, 45.

Train communication of the route was suspended after the incident took place. Later, the service restored around 8:00am on Friday when the train was removed from the track.

SI Rakibul Islam of Joydevpur Railway junction police outpost and locals said Lalmonirhat Express rammed into a 10-wheels truck carrying electric polls crippled on the truck around 1:45am.

Being informed, Kaliakoir Fire Service unit rushed the spot immediately and rescued assistant train driver Nur Alam Sharif in critical condition. He was rushed to Kaliakoir Upazila Health Complex where attending doctors declared him dead, he added.

A passenger of the train named Sohel also sustained minor injuries. He was given first aid of the hospital, according to duty doctor Nazmun Nahar.
