Two children drown in Jessore

Staff Correspondent, Jessore: Two children drowned in a pond at Punditpur village under Dehi union of Sharsha upazila on Friday evening.

The deceased were identified as Souhardo, son of Sohel Rana at Punditpur village, and Afroza (4), daughter of Ahmad Ali at Ambattola Islampur village.

They were cousins.

Sharsha’s Gorpara Police Outpost-in- charge Abu Zafar confirmed the matter.

According to the family and relatives of the deceased, the children were playing beside the house on Friday evening. At one stage, they fell into the pond.

The relatives started looking for them in different places without getting them. After some time, they were rescued and rushed to the Navaran Health Complex. But the duty doctors declared them dead.
