Two drug peddlers killed in Jessore 'gunfight'

Staff Correspondent, Jessore: Two drug peddlers were killed in a gunfight between two groups near Solua Bazar of the district's Chougachha upazila early Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Akser Ali, 40, son of late Abdus Sattarof Kabilpur village and Shahidul Islam, 32, son of Kohinoor Islam of Chougachha upazila.
Akikul Islam, second officer of Chougachha Police Station, confirmed the news.
He said the gunfight ensued over distributing shares among the drug peddlers. Being informed, police rushed the spot. But sensing the presence of law enforcers, the drug peddlers fled the scene. Later, two bullet-hit bodies were found at the spot.
Law enforcers also seized a pistol, a round of fire, a sack of phensedyl from the spot, he added.
The bodies were sent to Jessore General Hospital for autopsy, he said.
