Two killed in Hatiya 'gunfight' with RAB

Noakhali Correspondent: Two pirates were killed in a 'gunfight' with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Chatlarghat area of the district's Hatiya upazila early Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Saiful, 32, chief of pirates group "Saiful Bahini", and his second in-command Shafiq, 30.

They are residents of Burirchar area of the upazila. Of them, Saiful was listed pirate of the Home Ministry.

Two RAB men were also injured in the incident. They are ASI Mafizul and Constable Mahfuz of RAB-11.

They were admitted to Noakhali General Hospital.

Law enforcers also seized six home and foreign made fire arms, 22 mobile phones and Tk 54,000 cash from their hideout adjacent to the spot.

Jasim Uddin, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police of RAB-11, confirmed the news.
