Two killed in Sylhet stampede

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: At least two people were killed and several others injured in a stampede at a Waz Mahfil (religious assembly) in Sylhet on Sunday night.

The incident happened on Sunday night at Balai Haor under Zakiganj where Allama Abdul Latif Fultali Isal-e-Sawab Mahfil was organised.

According to sources, the victims were crushed under the feet of other devotees when they scrambled to collect food at the end of the Mahfil.

Sylhet District’s Additional Superintendent of Police Sugyan Chakma said about one lakh people attended the Mahfil.
