UP member hacked dead in Laxmipur

Laxmipur Correspondent: A union parishad (UP) member was hacked to death by unknown miscreants at Patwary Hat area in Sadar upazila on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Omar Faruk, 35, a member of Uttar Hamchadi UP and also joint general secretary of the union unit of Awami League.

President of union unit of Awami League Imran Hossain said miscreants hacked Omar Faruk on the way while he was returning home from local Patwary Hat area at night.

After recovering, locals took him to Sadar hospital from where he was shifted to Noakhali hospital when his condition deteriorated.

Later, he died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al-Mamun said no one has filed any allegation in this connection.

Action will be taken after receiving allegation, the OC added.
