Upazila polls: 7 candidates elected uncontested

Sirajganj Correspondent: Seven candidates from eight upazilas have been elected uncontested in the first phase of the upazila elections.

The winners include- three candidates for chairman and seven for vice-chairman posts. They are -upazila Awami League general secretary Khalilur Rahman Siraji from Kazipur upazila, upazila Awami League convener Riaz Uddin from Sadar upazila and former member of the parliament Shafikul Islam Shafi from Ullahpara upazila. 

Besides, the vice-chairmen - Moniruzzaman Panna of Ullahpara and Liakat Ali of Shahjadpur while Ribli Islam Kabita and Elija Khan elected uncontested.

Confirming the matter, district election officer Md Abul Hossain said there was no competitor candidates in those posts. That’s why they were elected unopposed.
