Ward councillor hacked dead in Mymensingh

Staff Correspondent, Mymensingh: A ward councillor of Phulpur upazila parishad of Mymensingh was hacked to death by rivals on Wednesday evening.

The deceased was identified as Sadekur Rahman, councillor of ward no. 1 of Phulpur upazila parishad.

A K M Mahabub Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Phulpur Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said, “A dispute took place between people two rival groups of local Chhatra League leader Milon and Juba League leader Sadekur Rahman at the noon. As a sequel to that, people of Milon hacked Sadekur indiscriminately while he was returning home from his fish farm in the evening, leaving him critically injured.”

“He was rushed to the Phulpur Upazila Health Complex immediately where he succumbed to his injuries around 8:00pm,” he added.
