Wife died trying to save her husband

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: Husne Ara Farid, 42, one of the Bangladeshis killed in shootings at mosque in New Zealand, received bullets when she tried to save her paralysed husband Farid Uddin, family members said.

The victim Hosne Ara was the daughter of Abdun Nuruddin from Jangalhata village of Laxmipasha union in Sylhet’s Golapganj while Farid is from Chawkgram village at Biswanath Upazila of the same district.

The couple got married in 1994. Later, they settled in New Zealand. They visited Bangladesh in 2009, her elder sister Rawshan Ara Begum confirmed.

Gopalganj Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Fazlul Haque Shibli said that they have visited the victim’s village in Jangalhata after the incident.
