Woman among 30 injured in Gopalganj clash

Gopalganj Correspondent: At least 30 people including a woman were injured in a clash between two descents over land dispute at Purbapara of Bangram village under Gopalganj sadar upazila on Friday.

Of them, some people sustained serious injuries who were known as Sher Ali Chowdhury, 35, Jalil Chowdhury, 25, Bhasan Chowdhury, 45, Bhul Chowdhury, 25, Shahin Chowdhury, 20, Isa Chowdhury, 22, Azizul Sheikh, 35, Hekmat Sheikh, 55, Keramot Sheikh, 45, Sihab Sheikh, 32, Titu Sheikh 35, Kalpona Begum, 34, and Rasel Sheikh, 22.

They were admitted to Gopalganj General Hospital.

Salauddin, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said, “People of Sheikh descent had been trying to make a street over land of Chowdhury descent for long days. As a sequel to that, people of both descents locked into a clash which continued for an hour, leaving at least 30 people of both groups injured.”

“Being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control,” he added.
