Woman dies of burns caused by Gazipur gas leakage

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: A woman died in a gas explosion in Gargaria Masterbari area under Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Selina Begum, 35, wife of Azad Mia, hailed from Daulatpur village of Kamarkhand in Sirajganj.

Quoting locals, Sreepur fire station officer Al Amin said the victim went to kitchen to prepare meal around 5:15am. She lit the gas stove and there was a blast following gas leakage, leaving her dead on the spot.

Later, on information, two units from the fire station rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.
