Woman killed as she protests loud speaker

Staff Correspondent, Mymensingh: A woman was allegedly stabbed to death as she protested of playing music in loud speaker at Akua area of Mymensingh town on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Anwara Begum, 45, wife of Nazrul Islam of the area.
Her daughter Nurjahan Begum Khushi, 15, was injured injured in the incident.
Kamrul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Police Station, confirmed the news.
He said Mahabub, Ahad and Rahad were playing music in loud speaker at 36 house colony of Akua area during Shab-e-Barat prayer. Anwara Begum asked them to stop it. But they refused and locked into altercation with her.
As a sequel to that, the youths stabbed the woman at her home on Friday night. At that time, her daughter Khushi was injured as she went forward to save her mother, he added.
Locals whisked them off to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital immediately where Anwara Begum succumbed, the OC said.
However, Khushi is now out of danger, according to physicians of the hospital.
Lodging case in this regard was under process while the report was filed around 10:30am on Saturday, the OC added.
