Writ filed seeking ban on student politics, ragging

A writ petition has been filed seeking ban on student politics and ragging culture in all universities across the country.

Alongside, the petition sought directives to ensure securities of students in all universities.

Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akond filed the petition with the High Court (HC) on Sunday.

The writ petition may be heard in the bench led by Justice Mainul Islam Chowdhury in the current week.

Education Secretary, Vice Chancellors (VCs) of all universities, police force among other concerned authorities were made defendants in the petition.

Yunus Ali Akond said, “It is unconstitutional to allow politics in university. It has no base legally.”

He said, “BUET student Abrar murder proved that there is no advisability to allow running politics in universities.”
