BB for providing loans to transgender

Economic Correspondent: The Bangladesh Bank has ordered all banks and banking authorities for providing loans to transgender people, physically challenged and other oppressed female entrepreneurs in the country.

The central bank`s directives came on Tuesday while the bank`s public relations department has disclosed this on Wednesday.

"The loans have to provide under SME financing of the banks," a Bangladesh Bank circular, published in this connection, has said.

The central bank`s circular also stated, "Loans may be disseminated under Bangladesh Bank`s SME loan policy or it can be provided through separate NGO linkages,"
