Govt to abolish public exams at 5th grade

Staff Correspondent: The primary and mass education ministry has decided to eliminate public examinations at the fifth grade as the primary education is being extended to the eighth grade.
However, the implementation of the decision will require final approval of the cabinet.
Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman Fizar made the disclosure while addressing newsmen at his Secretariat office on Tuesday.
He said, "We want only one primary education completion exam, and that will be held at the end of the eighth grade.”
On May 18, the government extended primary education up to the eighth grade from the fifth grade in the light of the National Education Policy.
