ICT being reformed soon: Govt

Staff Correspondent: The ruling Awami League-led government has taken plans to reform the International Crimes Tribunals soon.

The secretary of Law and Justice Division, ASSM Zahirul Haque, has confirmed this to newsmen on Thursday evening.

According to the decision of the Law Ministry, International Crimes Tribunal-1 will be kept effective to run the trial of the war criminals while International Crimes Tribunal-2 remains inactive.

In a bid to try the war criminals, International Crimes Tribunal-1 was formed on March 25, 2010 at the old High Court Bhaban and the International Crimes Tribunal-2 was formed while the cases in this regard were increased later.

The International Crimes Tribunal-2 was formed on March 22, 2012.
