Cases filed against Mahfuz Anam in Laxmipur, Khulna

Risingbd Desk: Separate defamation cases have been filed against the Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam in Laxmipur and Khulna.

In Laxmipur, the district Chhatra League President Chowdhury Mahmudunnabi Sohel lodged a libel case worth Tk. 50 crore while Khulna district Chhatra League General Secretary filed another case worth Tk. 100 crore.

The cases were filed in Laxmipur Chief Judicial Magistrate Court and the Khulna Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

Confirming the news the plaintiff`s lawyer Rasel Mahmud Manna said Mahfuz Anam tarnish the images of Chhatra League`s organising leader, the incumbent Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina publishing false and deceptive news in his newspaper. For this he was sued.

The court took the in cognisance, he added.

The law suit in Khulna was also filed on the same allegations, according to the case statement.
