Probe body submits final report over BB heist

Staff Correspondent: The probe committee of Bangladesh Bank reserve heist has submitted its final report to Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Monday.

Former governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Mohammed Farashuddin handed over the report to the minister at his secretariat office this afternoon.

Earlier on April 20, the committee submitted its interim report to Muhith.

The Finance Minister said, "The report will be made public within next 15/20 days. I will check it first then decision will be taken."

Dr Farashuddin, head of the committee that probed the USD 101 million cyber heist, told reporters that they found SWIFT among others “responsible” for the heist.

On February 4, hackers stole $81m from Bangladesh Bank’s account with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and wired it to a number of bank accounts in the Philippines and Sri Lanka.
