Retd army person shot dead in Magura

Magura Correspondent: A retd army person was shot dead and four others injured in a factional clash between two Awami League groups in Deegha union under Mohammadpur Upazila of the district on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Akbar Sheikh, 65, son of late Ibrahim Sheikh.

Sources said a longstanding dispute over establishing superiority in the area existed between former chairman Asaduzzaman and Abu Jafor Sheikh of the same union. Both of them are in important post of Deegha union and ward Awami League.

A clash between the groups ensued over the trifling issue around 8:00pm that left retd army person Akbar Sheikh dead on the spot.

Sudarshan Kumar Roy, senior assistant police super of Magura Police Station confirmed the matter.
