121 people were detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) after they were pushed into Bangladesh from India through several borders of Shahbazpur union under Baralekha upazila in Sylhet.

The nationality of those detained has not yet been confirmed, and verification is currently underway.

Locals said, 79 people were pushed in through the Shahbazpur border of Barlekha upazila in Moulvibazar, and 42 through the Pallathal border. They were sent into Bangladesh via dense forests and wetlands starting around 2:30 AM on Sunday (May 25).

BGB 52 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Hasan confirmed the matter.

Sources said that 121 people, including women and children, were detained while entering the country through different areas of North Shahbazpur Union of the upazila on Sunday morning. Members of the Latu BOP camp under the BGB-52 battalion detained 79 people and members of the Pallathol BGP camp detained 42 people. After verifying their identities, the BGB handed over the detainees to Baralekha police station.
