142 more infected with coronavirus in Gazipur

142 new coronavirus or Covid-19 patients have been detected in Gazipur, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the district to 2,815.

Dr Mohammad Khairuzzaman, civil surgeon of Gazipur, came up with the information on Saturday (June 20) afternoon.

142 more people have been detected with coronavirus positive after carrying out sample tests of 240 people in last 24 hours, the civil surgeon said.

Of those infected originally, 1,823 were from Gazipur Sadar upazila, 329 from Kaliakoir upazila, 277 from Sreepur upazila, 224 from Kaliganj upazila and 162 from Kapasia upazila, he said.

A total of 28 patients have died of the deadly virus while 427 recovered so far in the district, he added.
