16 killed in Brahmanbaria fatal train collision

At least 16 people were killed and over 100 injured in a head-on collision between two trains at Kasba in Brahmanbaria early Tuesday.

The deadly collision took place between Dhaka-bound Turna Nishita from Chattogram and Chattogram-bound Udayan Express from Sylhet around 3.00 am in Mondobagh area of Kasba upazila.

Confirming the news, Akhaura Railway Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shymol Kanti Das said passengers of both trains were killed and injured in the collision.

He said the casualty figure may go up.

Members of Fire Service from Brahmanbaria Sadar, Akhaura and Kasba rushed to the spot and are carrying out the rescue operation.

The train services between Dhaka and Chattogram have remained snapped following the accident.
