3 deer poachers held in Sundarbans

Forest Department officials and coast guards detained three deer poachers with hunting equipment from Pokkhidia Char area of Sharankhola range of Bagerhat in Sundarbans on Sunday night.

The detainees are- Miraz, 30, son of Said Matabbar, Hakim, 20, son of Abul Kalam and Musa, 28, son of Shahjahan Khan.

Sundarbans east divisional forest officer (DFO) Md Belayet Hossain said, acting on a secret information, the law enforcers conducted a drive at night and detained the three people.

Meanwhile, 50 traps, sharp weapons, illegal fishing nets and a trawler were seized from their possession.
