Three more devotees died at the Ijtema venue in Tongi out of them one was killed in a road accident.
The deaths were confirmed on Sunday morning from the control room of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) installed at the Ijtema venue.
The deceased were identified as Ali Mahmud, 75, of Cox’s Bazar, Abdul Momen, 55, of Joypurhat and Mazharul Islam of Netrokona who was killed in the road crash while he was on way to attend the Ijtema.
With these, a total of 12 devotees have so far died at the Ijtema venue in Tongi.
The first phase of Biswa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslims after Hajj, began on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi after Fazr prayers on Friday.
