4 killed as storm lashes 40 villages in Joypurhat

Four people including three members of a family were killed as severe storm swept over 40 villages in Joypurhat district.

The severe storm lashed the villages of the district around 10:30 pm on Tuesday (May 26), killing the four people and causing huge damage in the areas.

The deceased were identified as Shilpi Begum, wife of day labourer Joynal Abedin of Kholishagari village in the Khetlal upazila and her two children Newaz, 8 and Niamul, 3.

Besides, a 70-year old woman Morium Begum was killed as a wall collapsed on her in Akondapara village of Kalai upazila.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zakir Hossain confirmed the news.
