5 killed as private car hits tree

Five passengers of a private car were killed and three others injured seriously as the car hit a tree in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi on Saturday noon.

The accident took place on Dhaka-Rajshahi highway in Sahabdipur area of the upazila around 12:30 pm.

The deceased could not be identified immediately.

Ataur Rahman, station officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed the news.

Saiful Ferdous, deputy director at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), said the injured were admitted to the hospital in a critical condition.

Khairul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Godagari Police Station, said the accident took place when the private car was heading towards Godagari Sadar from Rajshahi city.
