Allama Nurul Islam Hashemi passes away

Popular Islamic scholar Allama Kazi Nurul Islam Hashemi has died at a hospital in Chattogram on early Tuesday (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un).

He was 93.

He breathed his last around 5 am while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Chattogram Maa O Shishu Hospital.

Mahmudur Rahman Shaon, a member of the hospital, confirmed his death.

On May 30, Allama Kazi Nurul Islam Hashemi, who had been suffering from old-age complications and breathing difficulties for long, went to Metropolitan Hospital with a respiratory problem.

After a few tests and X-ray, the hospital refused to admit him, prompting his family members to rush him to Delta Health Care, which also refused to admit the elderly patient.

Later, he was admitted to ICU of Chattogram Maa O Shishu Hospital when his physical condition deteriorated.
