Body with hands-legs tied up recovered from river

Body of a man was recovered from Kumar river of Uttar Gangarampur village under Muksudpur upazila in Gopalganj on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Shah Alam Sheikh, 55, son of late Abdul Khaleque Sheikh of the village.

Abul Bashar, In-Charge of Sindiyaghat police investigation centre in Muksudpur, confirmed the news.

He said, “A clash engulfed between supporters of former chairman Liton Boyati and the current chairman Safikul Alam Molla at Sindiyaghat bazar over establishing supremacy in the area on Tuesday morning, leaving 10 injured. The injured were admitted to Rajoir upazila health complex in Madaripur.

Shah Alam went missing while he was returning from hospital after looking after his cousin (sister). He was not found even after searching different places. Later, his body with hands-legs tied up with rope was found in Kumar river.
