Bogura Zia medical to start coronavirus test from Monday

Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital (SZRMCH) in Bogura will start testing for coronavirus using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machine from Monday.

SZRMCH principal professor Dr Rezaur Alam Jewel confirmed the news on Sunday.

He said, “Earlier, samples were collected and sent to Rajshahi Medical Lab in a special arrangement for coronavirus test. Later, sample was again sent to the Institute of Epidemiology Diseases Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka for further confirmation if anybody tests positive. As a result, there were delays in getting reports.”

“Now, patients of Bogura and adjacent areas will get report within short time and confirmed over the results,” he added.

He further said they would be able to test sample of at best 94 people every day from the lab.
