Chattogram reports 220 new virus cases, 2 deaths

Two more people have died from coronavirus or Covid-19 in Chattogram metropolitan area and Chattogram district in last 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths in the port city to 189.

Besides, a total of 220 new coronavirus patients were detected in Chattogram over the same period, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the port city to 9,888.

Of those infected originally, 6,825 were from Chattogram city corporation area and 3,063 from different upazilas of Chattogram district.

Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, confirmed the information on Sunday (July 5) morning.

220 more people have been found infected with coronavirus or Covid-19 after carrying out sample tests of 1,050 people at five PCR labs in Chattogram in last 24 hours, the civil surgeon said.

More than 5,000 Covid-19 patients have recovered so far in the district, he added.
