Cox’s Bazar landslide leaves 2 children dead

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Heavy rain triggered a landslide in Teknaf municipality area in the district on Tuesday morning, leaving two children killed and six other people injured.

The deceased were identified as Mehedi Hasan, 9, son of Rabiul Alam and Alifa Khanom, 6, daughter of Mohammad Alam of Puratan Pallanpara area in the upazila.

Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Rabiul Hossain said a chunk of mud fell on the houses at the foot of a hill in the morning, leaving eight people injured.

Doctors at Teknaf upazila health complex declared the two children dead when they were taken to the hospital, he said.

The six others were undergoing treatment at the hospital, he said.

The bodies of the two children were handed over to their families, he added.
