Mosquito problem: DSCC to introduce guppy fish

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon has announced that the authority is going to introduce guppy fishes to control mosquito breeding.

The mayor made the disclosure while addressing a seminar at Stamford University in the capital on Monday.

Meanwhile, Mayor Sayeed Khokon released some guppies in the university swimming pool.

He said, "We have succeeded to control Chikungunya with combined effort of people. Free medical facility is being given setting up call center."



Sayeed Khokon also said that some 1,577 people got free physiotherapy staying at home. About 175,000 pieces of paracetamol tablets were distributed among the Chikungunya patients.

Insectologist Dr Towhid Ahmed, Professor Dr Kabirul Bashar, Professor Gulshan Ara Latifa, Dr K Maudud Ilahi and others attended the function.
