Drug trader killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’ with police

A suspected drug trader has been killed in a reported gunfight with police in Maheshkhalia Para Matshya Ghat area adjacent to Teknaf marine drive road in Cox’s Bazar.

The deceased was known as Abul Kashem, 32, son of Fazal Ahmed, hailed from Maheshkhalia Para area.

Police said that the gunfight took place this morning. Meanwhile, 10,000 yaba pills, a locally made fire arms, six rounds of bullets and seven bullets cases were recovered from the spot.

Confirming the matter, SI Kamruzzaman said, acting on secret information, police conducted a drive in the area. In the meantime, sensing presence of police, drug traders opened fire which triggered the gunfight. Later, a bullet-hit person was recovered from the spot.
