‘Drug trader’ killed in ‘gunfight’

A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with members of DB police at Bharsho union of Manda upazila in Naogaon early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Awrengojeb Jibu, 45, son of Nabir Uddin at Deluabari village under Kushamba union of the upazila.

Police claimed that three police members were also injured in the gunfight.

According to police, acting on a tip off, a team of DB police conducted a drive in the area. Sensing the presence of policemen, drug peddlers opened fire at police members, forcing them to back fire in self defence that triggered a gunfight.

After the gunfight, the law enforcers recovered the bullet–hit body of Jibu from the spot and others managed to flee the scene.
