Farmer killed in Bandarban wild elephant attack

A farmer was trampled to death as a wild elephant attacked him at Chakdhal area of sadar union under Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban around 2:00am on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Monir Ahmmed, 35, son of Belayet Ali, of the area.

Shamshul Alam, elder brother of the deceased, said Monir listened sounds of elephants’ arrival around 2:00am. He shouted for help after he has kept his baby daughter in safe place. But an elephant attacked Monir before people reached the spot, leaving him dead on the spot.

Sadia Afrin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Naikhongchhari Upazila, confirmed the matter.
