Father, daughter among 6 killed in Tangail road crash

Six people including a man and his daughter were killed and three others injured in a road accident in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail on Monday.
The accident took place on Gorai-Sakhipur road in Beltoil Bottola area of the upazila around 11:00am.
The deceased were identified as Hafiz Uddin, 60, and his daughter Renu Aktar, 25, Sonam Uddin, 60, son of Johur Uddin, Mashraful, 8, son of Hashem Ali and Hridoy, 18, son of Khalil Mia. The other deceased could not be identified immediately.
All the deceased were the passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.
Quoting eyewitnesses, Dipu Sarkar, sub-inspector (SI) of Mirzapur Police Station, said when a Sakhipur-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw overturned on the road after being hit by a Goran-bound private car a sand-laden truck rammed it, leaving Mashraful and Hridoy dead on the spot and four others injured.
On information, locals rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.
Sonam Uddin succumbed to his injuries while being taken to a hospital and Hafiz Uddin, his daughter Renu and another unidentified person died while undergoing treatment at a hospital, he said.
The three injured people are undergoing treatment at Kumudini Women's Medical College Hospital.
Police seized the private car and the truck but their drivers managed to flee, the SI said.
