First coronavirus death reported in Rajshahi

An 80-year-old man died after being infected with coronavirus or COVID-19 in Rajshahi.

The patient breathed his last at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) at 7:40 am on Sunday (April 26).

Confirming the matter to risingbd, RMCH Deputy Director Saiful Ferdous said it was the first death from COVID-19 at the hospital and the district.

The patient, hailing from Gaopara village of Bagha upazila in the district, was admitted to the hospital on April 17 with urinary problems.

As he developed fever and breathing problems and his X-ray revealed symptoms for coronavirus infection, his samples were sent for tests.

The test came back positive for coronavirus on April 20 and he was shifted to Infectious Disease (ID) Hospital that runs under RMCH.
