Flood situation worsens in Sunamganj

Flash floods, triggered by heavy rains and upstream water, have inundated many areas of Sunamganj, rendering thousands of people marooned.

Sobibur Rahman, executive engineer, Sunamganj Water Development Board (WDB); the Surma river is flowing 25cm above the danger level at 9.00am on Tuesday. 

Rahman also said that 120mm rain was recorded in the last 24 hours in Sunamganj until Tuesday morning. Flood water continued rising in different places. 

Deputy Commissioner Md Abdul Ahad said District Disaster Management Committee held a meeting and we have taken huge preparations to tackle the situation.

Shelter centre and control rooms have been opened in each upazila of the district.
