Husband to walk gallows for killing wife in Satkhira

A Satkhira court convicted a man and sentenced him to death for killing his wife in 2012.

Special judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Hosne Ara Aktar passed the order on Wednesday noon.

The convicted person is – Ranzan Mandal, 37.

Tribunal Public Prosecutor (PP) Jahurul Haidar Babu said, Ranzan, hailed from Toilkupa village in Kalaroa upazila, married Swapna in 2012 and had been torturing her since then for Tk50,000 dowry.

On June 9, 2012, the convict Ranzan Mandal beat up his wife Swapna mercilessly and killed her.

Later, victim’s brother Shibpad Das filed a murder case mentioning six names with Kalaroa police station.
