Police have arrested three teachers including key accused Yousuf Mollah over death of a 2nd year Qoumi madrasa student at Gachhbaria in Madaripur sadar upazila.

According to locals and police, Yousuf Mollah beat Asif, son of Anowar Hossain Matubbor of Shreenathdi village under Madaripur sadar upazila, to death on Wednesday.

On Thursday night, the key accused along with several others went to the sadar police station with a proposal of settlement over the incident. Then, police filed a murder case and arrested three.

The arrestees were known as Yousuf Mollah, Hazi Illias and Abul Bashar.

They were sent to jail on Friday.

Deceased Asif’s father Anowar Hossain said that his son was beaten up over alleged losing Tk 500. Though Asif died, madrasa authority did not inform him.

He said, “On Wednesday afternoon, I received a phone call and listened Asif was admitted to hospital as he fell sick. I rushed to the hospital and found him dead.”

“They poured poison on his mouth after he died and tried the incident as suicidal,” he added.

Saogatul Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madaripur sadar police station, confirmed the news.
