Man arrested over chopping wife to death on Facebook live

Police arrested a man, who allegedly chopped his wife to death on Facebook live, from Uttar Baharipur Bhuiyan Bari of Feni municipality area on Wednesday.

The killer was identified as Obaidul Haque Tutul, 32, son of Golam Maula Bhuiyan of the area.

According to police and the deceased’s sister Rehana Akter, Obaidul Haque Tutul got married with Tahmina Akter, daughter of Sahabuddin of Akdia village of Gunaboti area in Cumilla, five years ago after love affair. But since after a few days of the marriage, they locked themselves into family feud because of financial insolvency.

They said Tutul have already taken money from Tahmina’s family. He had been forcing her for money, but she denied. At one stage, Tutul went on Facebook live and chopped his wife to death on Wednesday noon. After the murder, he informed police over the incident. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and arrested him.

Police also seized the mobile used for Facebook live and a machete used to kill the woman. The body was sent to Feni Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Sajedul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Feni Model Police Station, confirmed the news.

Tutul and Tahmina couple have a 1.5 year-old daughter.
