Man commits suicide after killing wife in Satkhira

A man allegedly took own life after hacking his wife to death at Jelekhali Gazipara in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira district early Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Mannan Gazi, 50, and his wife Sona Bibi, 35, of the area.

Locals said the couple engaged in a quarrel on Saturday evening. Later, locals found the body of Sona Bibi lying at their house while that of Mannan hanging from a tree near the house on Sunday morning.

Confirming the matter, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shyamnagar police station Yeasin Alam, said their bodies were recovered and sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

The OC said Mannan might have hanged himself after killing his wife following a family feud.
